KORE Telematics deploys Cisco Aggregation Services Router

Highlights Cisco's strategic interest in smart-grid and other M2M infrastructures

Cisco announced last week that KORE Telematics, a network provider specializing exclusively in the machine-to-machine communications market, has deployed Cisco ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers.

KORE is currently delivering service to more than 600 application providers, powering applications ranging from asset management to vehicle location, utility metering and payment processing. The KORE GSM network spans more than 93 percent of the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean, with more than 50,000 cell sites and more than 400 roaming partners in 220 countries worldwide.

Alex Brisbourne, President and Chief Operating Officer at KORE Telematics said the "Cisco ASR 1000 provided the ideal foundation for us to scale our business." Compugen, a Cisco partner, deployed Cisco's ASR 1000 Series routers to help KORE scale to support more than 11 million wireless devices.

The ASR 1000 Series delivers security services, quality of service, Cisco Network Based Application Recognition (NBAR), Cisco IOS Flexible Packet Matching (FPM), broadband aggregation, and Cisco Unified Border Element with wire speeds up to 20 gigabits per second.

EXFO Inc. and CENX Inc. have announced a partnership that will result in deployment of off-net service-level agreement (SLA) monitoring for Carrier Ethernet services. Previously, when a service provider needed SLA monitoring to off-net locations via a partner network, their practical choices were to “run blind,” with no ability to measure, alarm and report on the Ethernet service quality to these off-net locations, or deploy customer premises monitoring equipment at each of these off-net locations.
