SIMalliance Reports 5% Growth in 2016 Global SIM Shipments

Highest ever SIM shipment volume; strong growth in Asia behind positive global outlook


The SIMalliance membership, which represents approximately 90% of the global SIM market, has reported a 5% year-on-year growth in its 2016 shipment volumes, with a total 4.9 billion units shipped during that period. This is the highest annual volume of shipment units reported yet by the organisation. SIMalliance members estimate that the total available global market for SIM cards also grew in 2016 by 2.8% to 5.45 billion units.
